Welcome to the website of the department of Ophthalmology of the Democritus University of Thrace.
The Department of Ophthalmology was founded in 1987 and installed at the University Hospital in Alexandroupolis in 2003. University Hospital of Alexandroupolis is among the biggest hospitals in Greece providing integrated care to about 600.000 beneficiaries at the Eastern-Macedonia and Thrace Prefecture.
Since 2019,, the department of Ophthalmology is ISO certified, and one of the national educational centers for Ophthalmology training (residentship).

The Department of Ophthalmology is the official teaching facility for the 5th year medical students of the Democritus University.
